Be careful what you wish for…

IMG3790Sore throat, a mist not only building up huge amounts of damp air but causing accidents as well and still only the occasional minutes of sun… It’s easy to become depressed but yesterday I got a motorcycle related call that really got my juices flowing. It might be nothing or it might be life changing, I don’t know yet and I’m not going to speculate. What I am going to write about is how hard it is to get a hold of place to do a little welding…

I’ve decided to go ahead with the mount I’ve been writing about. I’m still not convinced that it will look good, but the thing is that I now have a speedometer with all the functions I need (RPM, indicator lights and so on), a voltmeter and a USB-charger with both a 1 amp and a 2 amp port. Just attaching them individually to the bike with straps and glue will look like crap so I feel that a console, even an ugly one, would be better.

I’ve now seen some not too advanced but still great looking street fighter builds on the CBR 600 F2, and although I am not really into street fighters anymore, there were still parts of them that I would like to see on my bike. I named her the Beast a long time ago, maybe it’s time to go that way. And I admit, I am inspired by El Solitario’s “I don’t give a fuck what you think”-mentality. I’d rather be recognized for having a monstrous but cool bike than be yet another ER-6n rider in town (no offense to ER-6n-owners).

If it wasn’t for the hassle of mounting the tires on the rim, which I have never done on a sportbike but several times on dirt bikes, I would like to get my rims powder coated in satin black or something similar instead of the Fighting Red they are now. Black works with pretty much everything while the Red sticks out. I would also need to do some form of abrasive blasting beforehand and or the price doubles and then I’m stuck in that “how much should I spend on this old lady”-thought. Oh, the choices…
