Yesterday I decided to get my ass of the wagon and really put some effort into it. The results were an assembled engine, except for the pulse, alternator and clutch covers but that’s an easy fix since I removed all traces of gasket material, and the engine installed in the frame. No updates? Is he all right? I can imagine the questions are many, but fear not. I am alive and well, although well is a matter of perspective. I am currently doing other things where Internet access is scarce and motorcycles are non-existent. Please give me a few more days and I’ll be back stronger than ever.
Workwise I am in for two tough weeks which means I won’t have that much time to build on the CBR but tomorrow I’ll pick up the powder coated frame and I’ll try to find time to get the cylinder head back on the engine so I can mount it in the frame. As I’ve written before, I’ve chosen a satin black, or “black frei” as the powder coater called it, for the frame. Fortsätt läsa Frame on!
If riding two is fun, then riding three is even better. A beautiful, but cold, day is not to be wasted so it was time to go enduro riding in the urban jungle. The Nite Ryderz did some exploration today and went to some previously unridden roads in the city. Great fun and it is always nice to get to know your city a little bit better. With the temperatures on the rise and the evenings getting brighter, I am once again reaching that state where the passion becomes obsession. I want to ride all the time so bad that everything else is pure agony. Riding is all I can think about, all that matters. My CBR-project is once more delayed. Getting parts for a
reasonable amount of money in a reasonable amount of time in this country seems to be nearly impossible. I am looking for two small oil collars to the oil cooler, and I found a Swedish supplier but unfortunately they can’t get their hands on those until the end of April. April. I really have to pick up the pace although I am currently spending at least an hour and half every night doing what needs to be done. The clutch is mounted, so is the the alternator. What’s lacking though is the oil cooler (waiting on two collars before I can mount it) and the starter motor with the starting clutch (waiting for the gear shaft). Another couple of hours spent in the garage. I got the spray paint for the caliper today but decided to press on with the engine instead. Today I managed to get the oil pan back on (with the stuff inside it of course) and mounted the oil pump too. Oh, and I did some more cleaning. The way this grime clings to the engine is unreal. I did it! After having hesitated for a while, I decided not to give a fuck and go for it so I did. I put on the sealant, albeit far too much. Given that it is my first time, I do hope I did a solid enough work. I only put it where it is supposed to be according to the manual and I even tightened all the bolts according to spec.
