Ever noticed how one thing leads to another when it comes to mechanical work? What was supposed to be a simple repair ends up being a full-scale restoration. This is the current status of my CBR600… Fortsätt läsa Chain of events

First look: Smart Turn System
Okay, I’m a bit behind on my motorcycle fixing due to some time consuming stuff like life, work, winter and whatnot, but I finally found some time to go through the Smart Turn System and these are my first impressions… Fortsätt läsa First look: Smart Turn System
The tale of the tail
Where have you been? Why aren’t you blogging? These questions haven’t been asked but I know you’ve been wondering and the answer is: I’ve been busy with other stuff. Not too busy though, because I finished tidying up the tail today. Fortsätt läsa The tale of the tail
The victory fail
My bike did not pass the MOT inspection. As expected, I might add. So why do I feel so happy anyways? Because of the way it failed. Sometimes what seems to be a loss is actually a victory (and vice versa). Let me explain this to you… Fortsätt läsa The victory fail
Getting back
Like a twist of fate, one channel broadcast this documentary about Evel Knievel two days ago, the day of my first “real” accident. Today I realized what that guy was made of. I went to get my bike from the mechanic who managed to squeeze it into his already tight schedule for service and had to ride like forty miles home. My mind kept playing tricks with me and I tensed like had never ridden before. But I got home safely although a bit humbled by this new riding related sensation… Fortsätt läsa Getting back
Steady as she goes
From having lived and breathed wrenching to no avail during the winter, I’ve decided to approach it somewhat differently: shorter but more productive sessions. The last evenings have been like that. Short enough to be focused all the way, and still giving me time to do that other stuff some people call life. Today I adjusted the timing, at least I think I did… Fortsätt läsa Steady as she goes
Tools and the trade
The title isn’t me misunderstanding the expression but rather a summary of a pretty weird day. On a whim, I decided that I might get into the motorcycle gear designing business. Working with something motorcycle related has long been my dream, and I have even had a few opportunities but the circumstances hasn’t really been right. I would like to run my own business, doing stuff the way I want while at the same time contributing to the community would be awesome. Today I scrambled up some courage and went for it… Fortsätt läsa Tools and the trade
Give and you shall receive
Wrenching is usually something I do to my bikes (yes, that wording is correct), partly because of my inexperience which means I cannot guarantee a job well done. But today I got the chance of doing something for someone else and it was a great feeling to see another person, albeit a friend, ride off with a smile on his face and a working bike. Neutral no more
I complained about the bike only starting in neutral even with the clutch lever pulled in before. Not only does this pose a problem when the badly mapped engine stalls in the middle of a turn or at a crossroads, more importantly it makes me look like a fool, balancing the bike while trying to find neutral and desperately pushing the button. Well, that problem is about to be solved… Fortsätt läsa Neutral no more
The final countdown
Things are happening quickly now, or rather, things are starting to show. Almost everything I do now is visual. Not like hooking up two connectors the right way or tweaking a setting of the carbs or polishing up an area just beneath the oil cooler. No, we’re talking major league now. It shows and it makes me proud. Fortsätt läsa The final countdown
